History

Beginning in the early ‘50’s, the La Coquille Club has been an oceanfront vacation destination for scores of prominent families.

Built by Spelman Prentice, a Rockefeller by birth and society lover by inclination, La Coquille Club built a great reputation due to its members and guests. Sold in 1972 to Robert B. Evans, a Detroit industrialist, the Club continued to prosper with the addition of the 89 La Coquille Villas. Members could now own a villa and use the facilities of the Club. In the mid ‘80’s, the original Club was replaced by a Ritz Carlton Hotel, which maintained Club facilities for La Coquille members. Recently renamed Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, members have full use of the resort’s excellent restaurants, pool, tennis, exercise rooms, spa, etc. What started as a small private club has grown into a well-designed oceanfront community which has maintained the quality and character of its’ founding members. We invite you to explore the story of La Coquille Villas in more depth.
